The third EP from Get Physical‘s Croatia-focused compilation features tracks from Ana Antonova, Marina Karamarko and Evren Ulusoy and Tome R.
First up are Turkey’s Evren Ulusoy who has topped Beatport’s Deep House charts and released prolifically on a wide range of labels, and Tome R, a young, upcoming DJ and producer from Croatia. Their ‘Erotic Fresco’ is a superbly smooth and seductive house track with wavy chords and drums all sinking you into a reverie as the heavenly vocals drift up top.
Conceptual Black and Dobar House associate Ana Antonova has always explored a plethora of genres and has long been an ambassador of Croatia’s electronic scene. Her ‘Misunderstanding’ is built on a bubbling rhythm that rolls like a pan of boiling water. It’s a brilliantly warm and dynamic track with subtle synth work drawing you into its humid jungle-like atmosphere.
Marina Karamarko is another rising star of the Croatian scene who releases on TNAHQ and is on a mission to “leave you with a full heart before going home”. Her remix of ‘Tamo’ by Andrea Ljekaj brings alluring darkness and driving tech house to the EP. Finger clicks and off-grid hits, wonky snares and cymbals all bring looseness to the industrial mood of the groove. Andrea Ljekaj is, of course, one of the driving forces behind Get Physical’s Croatia series and will be once again compiling the upcoming EPs.
These are four essential new artists who are now all set for big things on the international stage having made their mark at home in Croatia.
