The 7th release from Barbara Nicole’s label “Good Crazy” has her team up with producers ST..N (aka Dutch artist Luxe Agoris) and FortySevn for a musically adventurous EP “MORE OF ME” that explores a ride of emotions from flirtation to obsession.
Barbara Nicole: “We start on a night out with “XTC” followed by intense passion with “Come Alive” and then the bitter end when lovers turn to strangers but still keep tabs by watching each other’s Instagram stories as reflected on “MORE OF ME”. I was inspired by true events when writing the lyrics for these tracks. I find nothing more infuriating than someone who cannot communicate or make future plans with you but continues to watch your stories. I don’t get it, it seems like you want more of me. I guess if you’re watching, I better keep it interesting. It’s a modern take on Mariah Carey’s ‘Obsessed’.”
Sonically the package shows once again that Barbara Nicole is fearless when it comes to exploring a wide array of dance music genres. “XTC” is a throbbing deep house workout pulsing with accelerating acid synths, percussions, and boomy sounds. The title track “MORE OF ME” is the ultimate punk house relationship “break up” rap anthem that you’ll be hearing in people’s Instagram reels and TikToks this fall after the end of all the summer flings, and it bubbles with elements of East Coast club music. It’s followed by the UK garage leaning “Come Alive” which suspends Barbara’s vitalizing vocals high above the life-giving breakneck tempos.
