Alexi Delano and Pablo Sanchez form the Basic Need project. They initially collaborated in 2002, in New York City, as Soul Dynamics, a live electronic group including some of the city´s jazz musicians. The leap forward takes place in an electronic key with a refined and classy house style that blends genres to become even more seductive and enveloping. After debuting in 2019 on Pablo Bolívar’s label, Seven Villas, followed by an EP on Culprit and another on Hafendisko, with Ghost Clap EP reaping great reviews, they now introduce a new EP, Between Spaces, with it they take a step further into their sound.
The EP quickly captivates with its title track followed by Side Effect, where they demonstrate their skills with the machines; its eclectic, elegant, powerful and magnetic. It then closes with So Far, a beautiful collaboration with handpan musician Shirin, the song adds a magic touch to a duo that knows how to find subtle feelings and soul where other producers left it be.
