Next up on Lowbit is London based Chaum, who is no stranger to imprints at the forefront of the melodic and progressive scenes, with recent releases on One Of A Kind, I Am Different, Soundteller and Mango Alley to name just a few, casting his dark, groove based spells far and wide.
On the lead track ‘Bime’ hypnotic arps and vocals from another dimension give way to the funk-tinged bassline, which drives the track with purpose. The weaving, purposeful arp drops down and then gathers strength again during the break and the perfectly engineered kaleidoscope of sounds and drums combine as one, to destroy any intelligent dance floor.
The second track ‘Water Plants’ builds with tension and momentum as eerie stabs and mysterious textures harmonise with the energetic bassline. Layer upon layer of synths test every part of the aural spectrum, very powerful and uplifting, yet melancholy, as they deliver their deep, spiritual message.
Two originals not to be missed by an artist who is definitely going places.
