Ahead of the long-awaited debut album ‘Dream Colour’, Richard Norris and Martin Dubka, aka Circle Sky, are to release ‘E23‘, a superb third single from it.
Circle Sky is the accomplished pairing of Richard Norris and Martin Dubka. The former is well known for his many and vital contributions to electronic music, as The Grid alongside Soft Cell’s David Ball, through work with the Pet Shop Boys and Bryan Ferry to his partnership with Erol Alkan as Beyond the Wizard Sleeve. Here he works with a highly respected producer Martin Dubka, who has worked with artists including Ali Love and Lou Hayter. Between them, they are real studio wizards who have already picked up critical acclaim for their first single, ‘Love Hertz’. Now, the pair are back with a vengeance and serve up this colourful new single as a fine taster of the full length to come in July.
‘E23‘ perfectly demonstrates the band’s trademark sound, which is music made live and in the moment, with sonic hypnosis, twisted loops and human emotions all drawn out of an array of digital technologies and analogue machines. The magnificently melodic single builds through bubbling layers of neon synth, blinking LEDs and deep bass. It is masterfully tender and packed with beautifully aching emotions that make it the most absorbing of musical trips.
This heartwarming single manages to be familiar and nostalgic yet markedly contemporary and is another gem from this fantastic project.
