After a successful project launch in 2022 with releases on Kaiserdisco’s KDRaw and Detroit’s Motech, veteran producer Nico K aka Closer Orbit delivers a slice of dark funk and gritty analog synth work. Courtesy of his own eponymous imprint, the “All I Need” EP comes on the heels of an intensely productive studio period.
“Warped” is the instrumental counterbalance to the title cut “All I Need.” Marked by warbling, off-kilter synths and a sub-heavy, insistent pulse, it showcasing his live techno production style.
“‘Warped’ is a moment in time, my favorite kind of music. It was initially recorded jamming with my synths, each one driven by a dedicated sequencer. After multitracking the jams, I edited them into more dj friendly arrangements. This kind of set-up is fun and immediate! And did capture accurately what I was feeling at the time. Both tracks on this EP were made in the same fasion.” – Nico
