After a six-year hiatus, acclaimed electronic duo Dance Spirit return with “Tranquilized & Hypnotized,” the first single from their long-awaited second album, Lunatic, arriving July 31 via their newly launched independent label, Koukan.
Originally completed before the pandemic, Lunatic remained unreleased for six years before Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius reunited to bring the project to life. Rather than letting the music remain unheard, Dance Spirit chose to release the album on their own terms, marking both a creative reunion and the beginning of a new chapter for the duo.
Introducing the album is “Tranquilized & Hypnotized,” a slow-burning piece of downtempo electronica built around Dance Spirit’s signature percussion, modular textures, and dreamlike melodies. The release features three distinct interpretations of the track. The Original Cut presents the album version, blending vocal-led downtempo electronica with hazy, unhurried atmospheres. The Tranquilized Mix strips the composition back to its emotional core, allowing the melody and vocals to drift weightlessly through an ambient listening experience. Completing the release, the Hypnotized Mix reimagines the track for the dancefloor, transforming it into a hypnotic minimal groover while preserving its dreamlike essence.
