First up, the dynamic pairing of Efe and Berrondo open up on ‘Between Us’, a glistening melodic treat that bristles with life. A strong shaker-led groove underpins the remarkable sound design work as this sleepy giant slowly wakes up. The main break acts only as a brief respite as we are headfirst back into the thick of the action before a breath is drawn: this is literally breathtaking.
Follow up, is Dark Soul Project with the grimy twinkle of ‘Cosmology’. Pretty arps play in the corners of your mind as a dirty tribal bass and twisted vocal shots cause concern hitting you right in the gut. Understated and effortlessly cool, this is one secret weapon you can’t do with out.
Finally, MAM delivers a trademark bomb of a tune, ‘Next Level’. Warped Reese fills the low end like a thick carpet on which sparse percussion gives movement and direction, allowing the melodics to draw you into MAM‘s Middle Eastern dreamscape. Absolutely essential.
