There are milestones, and then there are moments. For its 50th release Urge To Dance hands the honour to Jepe, an Artist who has been part of the UTD family since the early days.
The single ‘Tamed’ arrives as something rare: a record that doesn’t chase the present and the trend. A track of cool, unhurried confidence it is somehow a reminiscence of the hypnotic cool of Laid Back’s White Horse from the 80s and the early Hot Creations deep house romanticism of the 2010s.
Meticulously rolling bass-line and tight, rigid beat are kept simple, focusing on the slick feel rather than on flashy elements. The swing is not in the groove, but entirely in the melody and the synth’s atmosphere, with a subtle electro hint. The vocals are vulnerable and intimate, letting the lyrics breathe, and the emotions stay as a true confession on the dark dance floor.
