The quest for the soul continues with an important side mission.
Here, we have a stylishly soulful remix package of KingCrowney and singer Zoe Kypri’s single ‘Coat On’, which was launched on Soul Quest Records in August, a track that embodies their extensive music industry experience.
KingCrowney (DJ Mag ‘Emerging Artist You Need to Hear: Sept 2023), known for his collaborations with Rudimental since 2013, and having showcased his trumpet prowess on tracks like ‘Feel The Love’, has also released impressive music on King Street Sounds and in It Together, earning production and trumpet credits with established artists. Fellow Londoner and Rudimental collaborator Zoe Kypri has garnered support from Pete Tong, Black Coffee, and DJ Spoony for her solo work, and is fast becoming a global vocalist sensation.
The collaborative ‘Coat On’, having received airplay on DJ Spoony’s BBC Radio 2 show & was premiered by Mixmag, is now accompanied by a remix EP supplied by Soul Quest co-founders Six Sol and Max Sinal, alongside fellow Londoner and Robsoul affiliate Marlon George. It’s set to be released in October.
Slxm Sol’s take on the track pairs Kypri’s gorgeous high-end sonics with a brooding bassline accompanied by a deep house groove. Max Sinal’s remix is dark and dubby. It chops up the vocal elements to simple, echoed shots at times and revolves around a resonant, sharp leftfield drum break. Marlon George’s ‘Deep Down Dub’ strips the single right back, and adds a warm, slightly crunchy kick drum, hypnotic chords, and the odd splash of percussion, thrusting it into more minimal territory.
Release date: October 20th, 2023.
