With his new eight-track album acclaimed Irish artist Kormac has delivered an ambitious and fully realised electronic-leaning project featuring a host of exceptional collaborations.
Kormac is Dublin’s composer, producer, DJ, and sonic adventurer. In a career that has spanned more than 15 years, two albums, hundreds of live shows the world over, and major TV and film soundtracks, he has honed his craft, twisting organic sounds into wide-screen electronica and working alongside a plethora of highly respected artists across a range of mediums.
After close to a decade’s hiatus from releasing albums, this year sees Kormac unveiling his latest LP, Equivalent Exchange: a genuinely creative endeavor featuring a collection of Spatial Audio mixes, 3 short-form animated videos in production made in Cinema 4D & Octane, Unreal Engine and Blender and artwork provided by acclaimed street artist, Maser.
The album is the culmination of three years of work and has become an organism of its own, with renowned featured artists and the Irish Chamber Orchestra all helping to realize Kormac’s creative vision.
Across 40-minutes and eight unique and spellbinding tracks, the album explores his unique brand of electronica, employing an orchestra, an array of vocalists, rappers, and left-field musicians creating a suite of music that is equally as at home on the dancefloor as the big screen.
If there is a single defining feature of Equivalent Exchange it would be the sheer variety of styles, moods, and techniques explored across its modest running time, from the epic, bombast of opener Ondes full of powerful vocals from Jafaris to the richly textured progressive electronica of tracks like Always The Sound and New Day feat. Jack O’Rourke. Deeply engaging and emotive from start to finish, Equivalent Exchange is a rare album that succeeds in bringing to together a myriad of influences into a fully formed musical experience.
Kormac started out as a hip-hop scratch DJ and MPC beat-maker. Through his innovative use of live instruments and stunning audio-visual setups in electronic/club environments and collaborations with artists Irvine Welsh, DJ Yoda, Speech Debelle, Irish Chamber Orchestra, and many more, he established himself as a groundbreaking, forward-thinking live and studio presence.

Equivalent Exchange will be released on his new imprint, Always the Sound – a collaboration between Kormac, All City Records and CWB Management – on 11 November, with the vinyl edition ready for shipping Jan 2023.
