London’s dynamic duo, L E N K E, is back with a fresh slice of electronic bliss. Their brand-new single “Utopia,” released on August 21st via ARRVL, marks the debut track from their highly anticipated album Utopia, dropping on September 6th.
Flashback to London, 2017. Lenny Raveney and Kevin Coyne cross paths on a night out, introduced by a mutual friend. Both seasoned DJs and producers, immediately connected. That same night, they headed back to Len’s place and began making music together. Thus, L E N K E was born.
A few months later, the duo found themselves in Ibiza, where the vibrant nightlife—nights spent at Camelphat, Solomun +1 at Pacha, and Afterlife at Privilege—ignited their creative spark. It was in this melting pot of House, Techno, and Breaks that L E N K E’s signature sound began to take shape. The rest, as they say, is history.
Their 2023 single “Solise” garnered support from the likes of Paul Van Dyk and made its way into six different Beatport Top 10 Charts. L E N K E has shared the stage with industry heavyweights such as Danny Howard, Markus Schulz, W&W, and Judge Jules.
Now, L E N K E feels they’ve reached their musical utopia, crafting and perfecting a truly exquisite album. Influenced by the likes of Artbat, Booka Shade, 8Kays, Massano, and Space Motion, their sound has evolved into something remarkable.
The title track, “Utopia,” serves as the third single from the album and perfectly encapsulates their sonic vision. A MOOG modular beat intertwines with layers of progressive delay synths, punctuated by wicked hi-hats that join in after a few bars. As the track progresses, it builds momentum, brooding and expanding like the prodigious grandchild of Kraftwerk, until it reaches a New Order-inspired drum fill at the two-and-a-half-minute mark.
“Utopia” continues to rise, with a mesmerizing keyboard line that leads to a climactic moment at three minutes, where phasers are set to kill. If your hands aren’t in the air yet, they will be, as “Utopia” pulls you onto a fog-filled dancefloor, with green strobe lights slicing through the haze. It’s a stunning way to announce their album.
As 2024 draws to a close, the future looks bright for L E N K E. The buzz around them continues to grow, with the album receiving incredible feedback from Joris Voorn, Maceo Plex, Richie Hawtin, Nolan, Just Her, Luke Garcia, John 00 Flemming, and Graham Gold, among others. Stay tuned for more exciting details about the full album coming soon.
