Los Angeles-based producer, DJ, and label head Monsieur Frazier is lifting the veil on his debut showpiece with single “Keep You Close.” The single introduces his self-titled, three-track EP, Monsieur Frazier, due September 1 on his tastemaking label Understated Recordings.

Featuring fellow Understated producer and audio engineer Nick Garcia,Keep You Close” exhibits a pastiche of styles that Monsieur Frazier has sculpted into his own sound, mastering something entirely new and unique. The track boasts skittering U.K. garage style drums that bear the charge of a heavy bass drop and squelchy mid-range bass lines, married with a chopped soul sample, colorful jazz keys, and trap style triplet rap.

As co-founder of record label, event production brand, and creative collective Understated, the Los Angeles native is a curator in every sense of the word. The expert selector has showcased his selector prowess at festivals like Coachella and Splash House, in addition to holding down a yearlong residency at Sound Nightclub. He’s also directly supported heavy-hitters like Paul Oakenfold, ZHU, Walker & Royce, The Juan Maclean, Kevin Saunderson, Cut Snake, and The Magician.

The offspring of a two-time Olympian and former Baltimore-based DJ, Frazier was raised in a family bursting at the seams with natural born talent. The creative polymath is developing a tributary of deep house, funky house, disco house, acid, breaks, electro, minimal, bass and much more with his productions. He released his first official remix last fall on acclaimed U.K. label HE.SHE.THEY, which garnered support from heavy-hitters including Lee Burridge and Danny Howard.

Born in Santa Monica and raised on the westside of Los Angeles, Monsieur Frazier is a veteran of the L.A. club scene. Frazier held down a year-long DJ residency at the seminal Sound Nightclub, as well as graced the decks at many of the city’s best venues. In 2018 Frazier made the leap from club to festival stage, making appearances at Splash House, Coachella, Minimal Effort, and more.

The offspring of a two-time Olympian and former Baltimore-based DJ, Frazier was raised in a family bursting at the seams with natural born talent. Following in the footsteps of their father, both Frazier and his twin brother have dedicated themselves to a career rooted in music. Frazier’s story begins with Hip Hop and Rap, with his first foray into the music industry beginning as a DJ for some of the L.A.’s many local rappers, coming up alongside many of the city’s biggest names in Hip Hop including Odd Future, Warm Brew, Dom Kennedy, and many more. Evidenced by his rapping and extensive use of sampling, Frazier’s Hip Hop roots have stuck with him deeply throughout his career as he made the sonic pivot to playing electronic music.

More recently, Frazier has adjusted quickly to the new landscape of live-streaming, most notably being tapped to play sets on local hero Justin Jay’s weekly livestream show ‘Justin Jay’s Mystery Box,’ hosted on the legendary Dirtybird Records Twitch channel, as well as a coveted Friday night slot on the wildly popular Desert Hearts Twitch channel that sees hundreds of thousands of viewers tune in every week. It saw Frazier play a 3 hour set to a peak viewership of 18,000+ viewers and 855,000+ total viewers. Frazier’s set remains one of the most popular and highly watched on the channel and has garnered high praise, in addition to introducing him to a new audience around the world.

Release Date: August 20th, 2021.
