Present-day electronica is filled to the brim with producers that harmonise a plethora of genre stylings and motifs within their sound, and Nando is no exception. His flourishing career thus far has demonstrated a knack for crafting compelling dance trax that feel both fresh and familiar, dynamic yet precise, and always all-encompassing. Drifting proactively within the realms of House, Techno, Disco, and the in-between spaces, Nando perfectly captures that Rave-like spirit within his productions, where limitless positive energy abounds and minds and feet remain in a near-constant flux of joy. Perhaps above all else, it is whilst his music has a considered approach to it, there is a deep undercurrent of delight and fun that spreads throughout a Nando EP, further drawing dancers into his auditory universe.
‘Hit It’ is a testament to his craft and vision, and begins immediately on its journey to drive forward the dance into new spheres of being. The title track has a deep punch to its rhythm section, which provides the basis for the bass wobs and energetic vocal samples to take hold. The synth sweeps that align in the backdrop complete the picture, creating a feverish kinetic energy that is a real marvel. ‘Pow’ starts with a dense polyrhythmic percussive outlay, with the bass not far behind, with the scene set perfectly for the cavernous synths to take hold. Leaning heavily into techno soundscapes, the additional rhythmic features add an enormity to the progression, with joyous surprises found around every corner. ‘Dale Duro!’ lands next, which features another deep set of drums to get things going. This one is pure, peak time killer energy, with the swinging bass and drumming pattern striking right through the dance, with infectious euphoric vocal samples and tactful melodic lines doing the business – you just can’t help moving, no matter where you are.
