Written over several years, Skin Contact is a four-track EP by London-based producer Nodal Edge, released on Broken District. The collaboration came together naturally, built around a shared interest in music that leaves space for exploration and resists fixed formats. Skin Contact sits comfortably in that space, open, curious, and shaped as much by process as by intention.
The title track, Skin Contact, is built around a shifting rhythmic pattern, giving it a slightly off-balance feel, with dense, organic drums carrying the track forward. At the same time, the harmonic elements bring a sense of calm and continuity, so the tension never feels forced.
There’s something very physical in the way the track builds, which is also where the title comes from, along with a more literal, everyday reference that keeps things grounded. You might hear a distant echo of bands like Radiohead in the way tension is handled, but it stays subtle.
