NUKREATIVE is the music project and brainchild of Danny Bonnici and Jamesen Re, two of Australia’s most respected pioneers of the Australian Dance Music scene. In 2017 both artists joined forces and in a short time their discography lists an impressive range of connoisseur labels including Balance, Renaissance, Tale & Tone and Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream & TRYBESof imprint.
For their debut release on Beat & Path, NuKreative deliver a beguiling house track that’s heavy on instrumentality, with luscious, Zimmeresque chords mingling with restrained synth hooks. As usual for NuKreative, there’s a strong sense of musicality, with the piano chords reiterating themselves throughout the piece in an improvisational style.
Label favourites Sanoi and Beacon Bloom join forces on the B-side to create a thorough rework of Bonnici and Re’s material.
Where some remixes involve little more than percussive alterations, this version is stamped all over with the remixers’ personality – Beacon Bloom supply a typically wistful vocal line, and Sanoi’s knack for foley and rich, sub-heavy basslines is apparent.
