Santi Mossman’s name holds a special weight in the underground circles as a seasoned craftsman whose productions have long resonated across clubland. Now, making his Melorama Música debut, Mossman graces our ever-expanding catalogue with Crossing Souls, a state-of-the-art two-track record that feels like opposing poles of the same storm
“Crossing Souls” finds Mossman gliding between horizons as he draws arresting figures at each turn. With a rich percussive tapestry galloping over a restless bassline, this piece rides at a constant pace while shards of life gradually make their way into frame. A luminous arpeggio gradually rises from within, shaping and reshaping itself as it dances through the groove. Then, at its core, the music opens, suspended in a brief, translucent break where time dilates and emotion swells. It’s a cinematic pause, as if peering through the veil for a fleeting glimpse of something sacred before being drawn back into the current for one last go at rapture.
On our B-side and overflowing with energy, Santi Mossman’s titular “Existz” treads over dark terrains as a throbbing low-end pulse thrashes everything in its path. Slowly, the Argentine producer deploys sparks that run across the piece, generating a massive surge in tension before chemical compounds react in an unbridled release that propels us forward into an electric second act. Now deep in its gravitational pull, we begin to feel the heatwave as it starts to warp every synthetic element, recalibrating functions and imploding in an acidic finale designed for the darkest of rooms.
