Since the re-launch of Renaissance Records in 2017 (with THAT Solomun remix of ‘Age Of ‘Love’), Sasha Carassi has been one of the most-capped artists on the label, releasing and remixing at regular intervals since his debut in 2021; so, it’s only fitting that he is handed the honour of the label’s 100th release. And, in another twist of meant-to-be fate, his ‘re-invention’ of ‘Ametista’ lands exactly a year to the day of its initial release, which picked up heavy rotation from Tale Of Us, who played it throughout their January 2023 Central America tour, not least the lauded Afterlife event at Zamna, Tulum.
The new Ametista is a classy update, a balance between nostalgia and innovation, which twists the original’s breakbeat into a powerful 4/4, peak time driver, once again set to be played on dancefloors all over the world. What a start to the year!
