“Running Clouds” brings together elements of minimal synth, experimental electronics, ambient-influenced sound design, and subtle rhythmic structures informed by krautrock, trip-hop, and post-punk. Across the EP, the material is built from short melodic phrases, sparse tonal shifts, and tightly controlled layers of electronic texture.
Following earlier works such as Transference, Live In Dreams, Persona, and Lost In Time, this EP continues Seretan’s interest in compact forms, electronically mediated timbre, and the interplay between tonal material and noise. Rather than emphasizing genre markers, the tracks focus on signal processing, harmonic coloration, and the functional role of small motifs within a controlled sonic environment.
“Running Clouds” was created using a combination of analog and digital synthesis, hardware-based electronics, and processed recordings. The compositional approach centers on repetition, modulation, and the gradual introduction or subtraction of elements—techniques aligned with traditions of minimal synth, ambient, leftfield electronica, and post-industrial electronic music. The EP presents a precise set of pieces that reflect Seretan’s ongoing work with texture, structure, and electronic sound as a self-contained system.
Seretan, Özcan Ertek (b. 1989, Istanbul) is a musician and sound/media artist based between Berlin and Istanbul. Under the name Seretan, he works across experimental electronic music, minimal synth-related forms, ambient structures, and rhythm-leaning approaches influenced by trip-hop, krautrock, and post-punk. His practice sits between electronic production, sound design, and performance, shaped by his background in sound engineering and media arts.
Seretan has been active in Istanbul’s independent music scene since the late 2000s. He studied at ITU MIAM in Istanbul and later worked within Berlin’s sound-art and media-art communities. His work extends from studio production to audiovisual performances and installation-based projects, using electronic sound, field recordings, tape-based processes, and simple rhythmic frameworks without adhering to a fixed genre. In live settings, Seretan performs with real-time processing and flexible arrangements, allowing material to shift between sparse passages and more dense electronic layers. He has presented work at venues, festivals, and exhibitions in Istanbul and Berlin, collaborating at times with visual artists, choreographers, and interdisciplinary groups.
His upcoming releases, beginning with the EP Running Clouds, continue his work within minimal electronic forms, focusing on synthesis, timbre, and structure.
Release date: December 22nd, 2025.
