A jewel in its own class, ‘Zion’ paints breezy chords that strut oozing coolness and flair, seemingly wandering carelessly on a weekend morning between hazy horns, finding their way to a calling bassline. As they latch on for the ride, pristine percussive elements begin to unfurl with the utmost care, gently inviting us for a deep dive in swelling strings that seem to breathe in mesmerizing fashion. This is Terron Darby’s ‘Zion’, a wondrous creation that exudes refinement as it paints the perfect entrance to his imagination.
Rolling over a solid backdrop, ‘Solid State’ builds upon an arresting arpeggio as it takes the lead, thrusting us into a hypnotic trance where chords linger, echoing against thumping percussions, before Darby presents us, once again, with a grandiose moment of introspection as arps collide into each other, intertwining as they dissolve in chaos, only to take center stage once more. Now under the spotlight, dubbed-out piano chords embed the piece with deep colors for an exquisite comedown.
Transpiring inside a broken frame, ‘C.M.E’ is a most intriguing creation, patiently biding its time as it exposes reverb-drenched explosions that tingle the senses, piquing the listener’s interest with each passing beat. With a slow-burning narrative, Darby invites us to simmer in a haze of shimmering sequences that glisten and sparkle brighter than anything before as they create amorphous figures that twist and contort in unimaginable ways before the beat resumes, encapsulating all the magic at its core.
Concluding our new findings, ‘Chiron’s Transit’ presents transmission from outer space that make their way to us, impulsed by menacing stabs that wobble in our ears as they materialize into a warm, welcoming low-end cushion. One that embraces us as we glide across the vast infinity of outer space, basking in all its beauty, showered with interstellar gifts from above, tainting the sky with colors that have never been seen before.
