British soulful producer Ben Smethurst reveals his exciting new Disco guise, The Pleasure Principle, with a 70’s Disco inspired summer sizzla featuring Heidi Vogel titled, ‘Coral Drive Hustler’. Having pulled in some of London’s finest musical heavyweights including Mike Patto, Faze Action’s Robin Lee and Toni Economides to work on the single, Ben delivers a disco floor-filler that shimmers from start to finish. Heidi’s soulful tones glide over a lush soundtrack of classy brass, sweeping strings, a funky bass groove and infectious live drums. Also on the package, Ben amps up the feel-good vibes with a warm soulful house version and Toni Economides turns out a deeply sublime Disco Dub.
Ben Smethurst is a musician, songwriter and producer with 20 years on the soulful house scene, providing releases and remixes for BMG, MN2S, King Street and many other dance labels. Ben formed Expressive Records in 2018 with The Power Of Three’ single ‘The Time Is Coming’ feat Vanessa Freeman and Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love with Barbara Tucker and he’s on a mission to bring together the best writers and talented artists across the House, Disco, Jazz and Funk spectrum.
Heidi Vogel is a vocalist largely known for her work with The Cinematic Orchestra since 2006, appearing on their albums ‘To Believe‘, ‘Live at the Royal Albert Hall’, and ‘Late Night Tales’, as well as releasing her own debut album ‘Turn Up The Quiet’ in 2013. Heidi has performed at festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Blue Note Jazz Festival and the BBC 6 Music Festival, among many. She has also performed/recorded with Quincy Jones, The Brand New Heavies, ‘Lil Louie Vega, Bobby Mcferrin, Isaac Hayes, Roots Manuva, Danism and One51, to name just a few.
