Yak 40 is the alias of Egor Antoshchenko, a Russian electronic musician currently based in Nepal. ‘Clapping’ is his second offering after the EP ‘Made In Nepal’ released earlier this year.
‘Clapping’ has a certain cinematic feel with its 6/8 rhythm, elegant web of zither melodies, and a pattern of multi-layered claps, some of which sound rather IDMish, and the others organic. Slightly influenced by Four Tet, this is an emotional, dramatic, and instantly memorable little gem.
