Russia born, Germany based Yulia Niko makes a welcome return to Get Physical after her ‘Acid Mellow’ single back in November 2018, this time featuring Coro Coro and with SIS and Mihai Popoviciu remixes.
Niko was intoxicated with dance music from a young age and soon got her first residency in Sochi. She has since spent time in New York before settling in Berlin and has now set up her own vinyl only Tochno Techno label. She has also released on Baile Musik, Nervous Records, Plant74, played parties in LA and continues to make musical waves
‘Molly & Sally’ is a fresh tune with a jacking beat and live percussion that brings an afro feel. The lead melody comes from what sounds like an oriental stringed instrument, and Coro Coro’s vocals are enchanting and meditative. The whole thing is brilliantly unusual and absorbing, and will also pump a backroom party with real style.
Well travelled Romanian, Mihai Popoviciu is considered one of the most innovative eastern European producers thanks to his expertly distilled grooves. Here he strips things back to an eerie synth, stringy groove and haunting atmosphere full of off-grid chords, and is sure to send heady crowds wild.
Then comes a remix from long time label friend, Crosstown Rebels and This And That associate, SIS. His brilliant version is dark and tripped out, looping the vocals and occult instrumentals into a groove that weaves in and out and ties your mind in knots.
These are three left of center house tracks that bring fantastic weirdness to the club.
