When you think of Glasgow, Trainspotting or the Sub Club might be the first things to pop into your head, but Skyline Events are quickly rising in popularity with their incredible A-list lineups from the progressive and melodic techno scene.

Set on top of the Raddison RED, the Skybar is a 250-capacity rooftop club with a Void Acoustics Sound system, that is arguably the best in the country. This is home to the leading progressive house night in the UK.

Let’s rewind to learn how these parties came to be. Firstly, there was the man with the vision, Graham Chalmers, who is the general manager of the Radisson RED and a huge fan of progressive music. After traveling around the world to party at renowned clubs like Twilo in NYC and more recently Woodstock 69 in Holland for Hernan Cattaneo, he decided to bring his favorite artists to the Raddison RED, the perfect business meets pleasure situation!
It all began in December of 2019 when Graham and his team hosted a pre-party for the Sub Club with Hammer formally of Bicep. Shortly thereafter Covid hit and put a halt on all party plans. However, they continued hosting DJ Live Streams during lockdown with artists like Anthony Pappa, Dave Seaman, BOg & Steve Parry, and even Irvine Welsh (the Trainspotting author) and raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities as a result.
Fast forward to May of 2022 when they launched their first Skyline event with industry legends Guy J & Danny Howells. This was part of a collaboration with Graham’s old friend Derek Martin who ran some of the biggest progressive nights in Edinburgh and now runs Terminal V – Scotland’s Biggest Techno Festival. What was meant to be a one-off night has turned into a series of sought-after parties not only in Glasgow but around the world.
The parties have gone from strength to strength with Scottish debuts for the Soundgarden with Nick Warren, Moments with Guy Manzur, and the only Scottish stop for Marsh on his All-Night Long tour. Alongside the more established names, Skyline has introduced new names to Glasgow like Eli Nissan, Roy Rosenfold, & Alex O’Rion. They will also be proudly welcoming back Hernan Cattaneo to Scotland after eight years, where he will be joined by a festival-sized line-up of fellow Argentinian artists. All of the Skyline events have been hugely popular but this one sold out in under five minutes!
The parties run for 13 hours and transition from day into night. The music evolves throughout the day, and as the sun gives way for the moon to appear the Scottish crowd begins to let their hair down. The intimate nature of the award-winning Skybar helps to create a wonderful connection between the crowd and the DJs who all play for at least 3 hours. This is a key element of the club’s musical direction. Longer sets have given the DJs the chance to select some expected tunes and dig a little bit deeper into their record collection.
