Based on the Ligurian coast, the artist has recently found renewed inspiration through experimentation, collaboration, and a more stripped-back creative process.

Now, Novaro returns with ‘Believe’, a new collaboration alongside Starving Yet Full via Sanctuary Music. Shaped during a turbulent period in his life before evolving into something more uplifting, the track also arrives as he steps into parenthood and a completely new chapter personally and creatively.

In this conversation, Sol Novaro opens up about ‘Believe’, working with Starving Yet Full, creative pressure, parenthood, and finding purpose in a more focused studio setup.

EG: Hi Sol, welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. Where are you today, and what kind of moment are you stepping into right now?

Sol Novaro: Hey guys, thank you for having me! Speaking to you from my little studio in my home right on the Ligurian Sea, Italy.

I feel I’m at a very important moment in my life, musically. After all, I’m finally releasing my new track ‘Believe’ with Starving Yet Full, but most of all because I just became a dad to a beautiful baby boy!

EG: Congratulations on your new single ‘Believe’, out via Sanctuary. This one feels deeply personal. What was happening in your life when this track first began to take shape?

Sol Novaro: Thank you! I’m very happy to finally release this track; it is indeed a special one for me. I started the project in a moment of heavy pressure in my life, and I just wanted to create the most intense, heavy-hitting club track I could to let off some steam. Its original working title was “Stress Test”, and I’m so happy to have seen that liberating energy gradually shift into something more positive and empowering when Starving added his lyrics and it became ‘Believe.’ I’m also over the moon about releasing it on Sanctuary, a label I look up to, led by an artist that I admire, Samer Soltan.

EG: ‘Believe’ brings together your vision and Starving Yet Full’s voice in a very natural way. How did this connection come about, and what did each of you recognize in the track early on?

Sol Novaro: I’ve been a fan of Starving Yet Full since I started exploring the Afro House world. His vocals and character are so iconic, and he’s been part of many of my favorite releases in the genre. When I finally reached out to him to work together, I also discovered we have a very similar artistic vision. I think we instantly clicked, and we’re now working on multiple projects together!

Starving Yet Full: I received a message from Sol and instantly hit it off through chatting! His music had this groove that moved me right off the bat, and I knew I would enjoy collaborating with him! And so I did!!!

EG: There’s a strong emotional pull at the core of the record. Was there a specific feeling or idea that both of you kept returning to as you were shaping it?

Sol Novaro: The core of the track was set very early on. When Starving sent me the first draft of the vocals, I instantly fell in love with the lyrics, their meaning, and his delivery. We then went through a few different versions, refining the structure and the harmonies, but the original vibe always remained the same: strong, confident, and empowering.

Starving Yet Full: The instrumental carried me off into this soulful melody that emanated a feeling of gospel! I toyed with the idea of self-belief and presented it to Sol; he agreed, and we slowly crafted the song together into what it is now.

“That’s what I love about collaborations, another artist’s vision can completely transform a piece of music while keeping its soul intact”

EG: Looking back now that the track is ready to meet the world, what does ‘Believe’ represent to each of you at this point?

Sol Novaro: I think ‘Believe’ ended up being exactly what I needed without knowing it at the time. That liberating energy was always there from the start, and Starving helped shift it from something dark and heavy into something empowering and uplifting. That’s what I love about collaborations: another artist’s vision can completely transform a piece of music while keeping its soul intact.

Starving Yet Full: Once I heard the darker sound and the thickness of the bass, I felt like we needed an uplifting energy to balance it out! It felt like the right match! We followed our instincts and are happy with the results! Let’s hope the world of music does too!

EG: Your sound has been evolving from more pop-leaning territory into something club-focused and more exploratory. What pushed you to take that turn?

Sol Novaro: I’ve always been a fan of all subgenres of electronic music. When I signed my first single under the Sol Novaro project, I was mainly producing bass and tech house, but serendipity brought me into the pop/deep realm, and I continued on that path. I got lucky with some tracks landing on big playlists and making big numbers, and I’m very proud to have produced for some legendary Italian pop acts, but I quickly realized streaming numbers mean nothing, and what I was missing was making an impact on the dancefloor, and seeing my music played by DJs I look up to.
At the moment, I’m just making music for the sake of it. I’ve found joy again in exploring and experimenting without rules, and coincidentally, my most experimental stuff seems to be the music that resonates the most with the artists and labels I admire, so stay tuned because a lot of interesting tracks are coming!

EG: You’re about to step into a completely new chapter in your life with parenthood. How has that shift begun to reshape the way you think about music and time?

Sol Novaro: Having a baby completely shifted my priorities and my schedule. Time is way more precious now, and I have much less of it, but funnily enough, becoming a dad has given me a kind of inspiration I’d never felt before. And whenever I do get the chance to sit down and make music, I find myself finishing tracks faster than ever.

I also discovered I need way less stuff than I thought to make music. What was once my studio, filled with keyboards, instruments, and hardware synths, is now the baby’s room, and my equipment is moved into a corner of the living room. Luckily, I realized that just my PC and headphones are more than enough to express myself musically, and I’ve found new inspiration in this minimalist approach. Believe is actually the first track I finished in the new setup!

EG: Has this moment changed your relationship with ambition or what you want to accomplish moving forward?

Sol Novaro: Absolutely. Right now, there’s no stage in the world I’d trade for being present for my son’s first moments. I’ve always been more of a studio guy anyway. I love playing live, but creating music at home is what truly makes me happy.

So for now, I’ve put live performances completely on hold, and I’m just focusing on making the music I love and building relationships with the labels I believe in. My goal is that by the time I’m ready to get back out there, I’ll get booked for my releases and for who I actually am as an artist.

EG: The scene today moves faster than ever. From your perspective, what’s something important that risks being lost in that speed?

Sol Novaro: What I feel is being lost the most is personal taste. I can see the trends moving faster, and a lot of producers are adapting to them and blindly following the new hot formula to get signed to the new hot label, so everything ends up sounding the same in faster and faster cycles. I’ve been guilty of this myself.

I’m all for taking inspiration, and I think it’s inevitable to be influenced by what’s getting released and played at the moment, but I think the only way to find our voice is by balancing that inspiration with our personal taste, otherwise it’s just fast food music.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Sol. We wish you all the best with ‘Believe’ and this new chapter in your life. Take care!

Sol Novaro: It’s been a pleasure, thanks again guys!
