Sondela, a new sublabel by Defected Records dedicated to afro house

Sef Kombo and Louie Dunmore are the brand’s curators.

Defected Records released a new special sublabel dedicated to afro house beats. ‘Ezizweni’, by African artist Hyenah along with Durban artists DJ Tira and jazz singer Luke Ntombela, will be Sondela’s first release.

In addition to this premiere, the London label announced a second release called ‘Ancestor’s Calling’ by Native Tribe & TTAN’s, which will be released on March 5th.

‘I am very happy to be part of Sondela. I have always wanted to enlighten the incredible talents of my native continent, unite worlds with new listeners and also release incredible albums’, said Sef Kombo, curator of the brand.

From the label they added that all proceeds will go to Bridges For Music, ‘a non-profit organization based in South Africa that brings together key players in the music industry to support the progress of developing countries, achieving an impact positive in disadvantaged communities’, and that, through music, helps raise global awareness of local issues.
