DJ and producer Thaddeus X just presented his debut release on Mobilee with a four-track EP entitled ‘Avril.’. This project continues to expand the artist’s vision, showcasing a blend of deep house, techno, and experimental sounds while weaving in hints of post-punk, psychedelia, and leftfield disco. The result is a sonic experience that transcends typical club music, offering listeners an immersive, emotional, and textural journey.
The title cut, ‘Avril,’ sets the tone with dreamy layers inspired by shoegaze and IDM. Born from live jam sessions and late-night dancefloor energy, it features rich synth textures and warm tones that appeal equally to dancers and introspective listeners. A second version, the ‘Paradise Mix,’ strips the track back to its analog roots, presenting a raw and nostalgic reinterpretation that nods to an earlier era of electronic experimentation.
‘From One’ continues the narrative with an organic yet danceable soundscape inspired by the natural surroundings of the Dominican Republic, where Thaddeus X lives. The track blends earthy percussion with deep house rhythms rooted in European club culture, crafting a reflective yet groove-infused listening experience. Its connection to nature and place brings a fresh emotional depth to the EP’s progression. Adding a final layer, Berlin-based producer Vincenzo offers a remix of ‘From One’ that deepens the track’s atmospheric qualities.
The entire release is the product of a cross-continental collaboration between Thaddeus X and Ivan Smoka, merging analog synths, live improvisation, and detailed post-production. Together, they’ve created a rich, emotionally resonant work that feels both spontaneous and meticulously crafted.
