Bjooks, an independent Danish book publisher, has introduced The Minimoog Book, which delves into the story of the influential Minimoog synthesizer. Currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter, this publication marks a significant accomplishment for Bjooks’ founder, Kim Bjørn.
This comprehensive work, over ten years in the making, provides an in-depth exploration of the synthesizer that revolutionized modern music. It includes artist features, sound diagrams, and a plethora of images. The narrative spans the Minimoog’s history, its distinctive sound, the progression of its production, and insights from its inventors.
Bjørn stated, “This book is more than a historical account. It instructs readers on how to operate a Minimoog or any other subtractive synthesizer, laying out the foundations of electronic music.”
Supported by Michelle Moog-Koussa, Bob Moog’s daughter and the Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation, this title will cater to musicians, music history enthusiasts, and fans of design, photography, journalism, and pop culture.
The book comprises over 70 interviews with Minimoog artists, conversations with its engineers, an examination of its evolution, rare promotional materials, patch diagrams displaying iconic sounds and techniques, original design schematics, timeline visuals, and previously unseen photo galleries of renowned Minimoogs. It also showcases exclusive interviews with famous artists such as Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Chick Corea, Tony Visconti, Devo, Bernie Worrell, Gary Numan, and many more.
