The Psychic Dancehall Festival makes its debut at Derby’s The Wardwick and Dubrek Studios on March 22nd, 2025, showcasing avant-garde electronic and experimental music in the Midlands.
The Utopia Strong—an electronic trio featuring snooker legend Steve Davis, experimental musician Kavus Torabi, and Mike York—headlines the festival. Fresh from their acclaimed album ‘International Treasure,’ they’ll perform their kosmische electronic soundscapes.
Birmingham’s Rosie Tee presents genre-defying compositions that blend electronica, jazz, and avant-pop. Her full band will perform tracks from ‘Night Creature,’ while her label Kikimora Records co-curates the festival.
The lineup also includes James Adrian Brown (formerly of Pulled Apart By Horses) with his new electronic work, Hawksmoor performing their hauntological Krautrock, TR^NKS (Six By Seven’s Christian Davies) mixing shoegaze with electronics, and local artist James Glew.
Derby-based music journalist and DJ James Thornhill serves as creative director, with support from the Arts Council’s Grassroots Music Fund. The festival features an accessible pricing structure: early bird tickets at £10, with later tiers at £20 and £30.
