Born in 1998, Hofbauer’s musical journey began at an early age when he discovered his passion for music through playing the cello in the local orchestra and keyboard in a band. However, his curiosity and love for music led him to explore new avenues by incorporating drum machines and synthesizers into his compositions.
The fusion of his piano melodies with electronic beats resulted in a unique sound that seamlessly blends elements of Deep House and Melodic Techno. Hofbauer’s growth as an artist has been remarkable, driven by his unwavering dedication and passion for creating captivating music.
Hofbauer’s highly anticipated album, ‘In a Blurry World,’ is scheduled to debut on November 10th under Boris Brejcha’s esteemed label, Fkcng Serious. To celebrate the upcoming release, Moritz Hofbauer shares his Top 10 tracks that inspired his album.
1. NTO – Invisible ft. Sofiane Pamart (Piano Version)
“Last year, throughout our South America tour, I listened to this song nonstop while traveling in the car or on the airplane. When I listen to it now, it instantly transports me back to those moments, letting me reminisce about that special time in South America.”
2. Boris Brejcha – Afterlife
“In the first shows where I had the chance to watch Boris perform on stage, he always played this song at the very beginning of his sets. I still feel so electrified by the power and energy of ‘Afterlife.’ When I’m feeling down, listening to this song gives me back my energy.”
3. Radiohead – Everything In Its Right Place
“I discovered this song during a night out many years ago when the DJ played a remix of it. The day after, I listened to the original version and I think it’s really a timeless masterpiece. I love everything about it.”
4. Rosa Anschütz – Rigid (Kobosil 44 Rush Mix)
“Usually, I’m not into hard Techno Music, but I really love this song. The character of the vocals, the bassline, and kickdrum – it’s so deep and powerful.”
5. Moritz Hofbauer – Victoria
“It’s one of my favorite songs of my own. I’ve been playing it in my live sets for over a year, and the reaction of the people when it drops makes me always smile. I really like the simple 8th note rhythm and the heavy snare and bassline in it.”
6. Keinemusik (&ME, Rampa, Adam Port) – Before The Flood feat. Cubicolor
“Somehow melancholic music makes me happy. I also listened to this song a lot on tour whether on car rides or airplanes, while looking out of the window and getting lost in daydreams.”
7. Dom Dolla – Eat Your Man (with Nelly Furtado)
“I watched a video on TikTok of Dom Dolla dropping this song live and the crowd went really crazy. It’s so good.”
8. Royksopp – Like An Old Dog (Maceo Plex Remix)
“I really like this kind of unpredictable evolving chord progression in the song. I think it’s super nice. Also, those nasty bass sounds at the beginning are so cool!”
9. Stephan Bodzin — Nothing like You feat. Luna Semara
“Stephan Bodzin’s sound is so distinctive, and I really like the depth of his sound that comes through when you listen to it on powerful speakers. ‘Nothing Like You’ is one of my favorite songs by him.”
10. Monolink – Otherside
“Monolink is one of my favorite artists. I really like the feelings and emotions he conveys through his music.”
