Many point to Europe as the ‘hub’ of dance music—but not far behind is South America. Home to some of the most legendary hotbeds for the music, like Buenos Aires and various cities in Brazil, the continent has proven itself a grand incubator for next generation talent.

One such rising star from the area is Morpei, a pioneer of the Bolivian underground who’s just released his high charge, classic-inspired ‘Churchadelic’ EP on Desert Hearts. The young musician already has a lengthy resumé in house and techno. Just as the Bolivian scene had begun sprouting its wings, a teenaged Morpei launched his very first label Wireless Music. This venture led to success internationally, and a few years later, seeded his move to the United States.

It was there that Morpei’s career truly blossomed, with the artist scoring signings with the likes of Get Physical, RH2, Audiophile Deep, and beyond. His keen ear for grooves, as can be heard, has earned him plenty of radio play from BBC1 to DASH as well.

Having such a rich background, who better to educate us more on South America’s underrated artist than Morpei? The producer kindly put together a list of his favorite artists and songs from the region for our discovery.

1. Londonground (Argentina)

“At the top of my list we got Londonground, an Argentinean producer that keeps releasing pure deep tech heat and showcasing the proper sound of Argentina to the world.

‘Fantanized’ has been doing the job for me on my last gigs before COVID-19 struck”.

2. Ammo Avenue (Peru)

“This Peruvian producer has been on my radar for a while and it’s super nice to see the momentum he is building. Definitely one to look out for.

‘The Only One’ was just released on Supernova’s label Lapsus Music. Super fun and groovy tune, excited to test it once the dance floor comes back to life”.

3. Jean Bacarreza (Bolivia)

“My lifelong partner in crime Jean Bacarreza has shown that with hard work you can get where you want to be. He now owns three successful record labels and has released his own music with world-class labels like Toolroom, Sola, and 8Bit.

Here enjoy one of his latest releases with Phonic ‘Do U Piano’ on Superfet Records“.

4. Jay de Lys (Argentina)

“This young producer has been surprising us with every release and has been supported by names like Marco Carola and Loco Dice.

‘Disco Ruff’ is probably one of my favorite tunes from him released on Kaluki“.

5. Andre Salmon (Ecuador)

“Listened to his music after a couple of friends released music on his label ‘Sagmen’. Him and his label have some nasty tunes!

Try playing “Prepare your mind, prepare your heart” to a pumped-up crowd… people love it!”

6. Sisto and Jack District (Brazil)

“These two Brazilian producers always work together to provide us with nothing but tasty and sexy music for the dance floor. Excited to see what’s yet to come in the near future.

‘Frenshie’ is one of those tracks that bring serious GOOD VIBES to the party”.

7. Stefano Andriezzi (Venezuela)

“Minimal genius and co-founder from the uprising label Island Beats Music keeps releasing pure deep tastefulness. Clear proof of that is his track ‘Les Sons’, enjoy the ride”.

8. Octavio Souza (Bolivia)

“Even though his releases don’t come out that often, every track is hot!

‘Everyday’ has seriously been a track that inspired me early in my career”.

9. Enzo Amourccio (Bolivia)

“I’ve been listening to some of this producer’s unreleased tunes and he is definitely one to look out for”.

‘Serendipity’ is just a little taste of what he has to come”.

10. Ennio Skoto & Jordy Sanchez (Dominican Republic)

“These two producers keep raising the Dominican Republic’s name in the underground scene.

‘Clouds’, released on Island Beats Music, is a beautiful deep journey”.
