Toronto has announced the creation of a new full-time nightlife project manager role, joining global cities like New York, London, and Amsterdam in establishing formal leadership around after-hours culture.
The new position will operate within Toronto’s Visitor Economy Office and serve as the primary liaison on nightlife-related matters for the mayor’s office, city councillors, and key stakeholders. According to the city, the chosen candidate will act as both “ambassador and facilitator of Toronto’s vibrant night economy.”
Toronto welcomes over 26.5 million visitors annually, with its visitor economy generating more than $12.6 billion in economic activity each year. As part of the new role’s responsibilities, the manager will lead the forthcoming Night Economy Economic Impact Study, continue the implementation of a five-year Toronto Nightlife Action Plan, and coordinate a recurring Night Economy Town Hall to engage the public.
