Native Instruments has unveiled Traktor Pro 4, marking the first major update to its DJ software since 2018. This significant upgrade introduces new and enhanced features, using cutting-edge technology to elevate the DJing experience.
One standout addition is the implementation of machine-learning technology for stem separation. This feature allows the software to decompose tracks into four distinct elements—drums, bass, other instruments, and vocals—each with its own volume control, filter, FX send, and mute function. While this analysis can be memory-intensive, it can be conducted in real time during DJ sets. The stem-separation engine leverages iZotope’s RX technology, a result of the 2021 merger between Native Instruments and iZotope.
Traktor Pro 4 also introduces flexible beat grids, enabling DJs to mix tracks with varying tempos seamlessly. This enhancement allows for the application of time-based effects to tracks with inconsistent tempos, broadening creative possibilities.
Additionally, two prominent features from Traktor Pro Plus, the subscription tier of the software, are now accessible in Traktor Pro. These include Ozone’s Maximizer, another innovation from iZotope, and the Pattern Player drum machine, which comes preloaded with kits crafted by renowned artists such as Rebekah, Luke Slater, Len Faki, Chris Liebing, and Dubfire.
