Tycho has released two new tracks from his awaited new studio album entitled ‘Infinite Health,’ which is set for release on August 30, 2024. The singles, ‘Devices’ and ‘Green,’ are now available for streaming via Mom + Pop / Ninja Tune.

Scott Hansen, Tycho’s songwriter, originally composed ‘Devices’ for a film, but it went unused. For ‘Infinite Health,’ Hansen revisits the track, recalling his move to Sacramento in the late ’90s when he discovered electronic music. “A couple of my first synths were trance-centric,” he says. “I wanted to reference them in some way without literally making a song like that.”

Contrasting with ‘Devices’ is the downtempo and personal track ‘Green,’ which evokes Hansen’s nostalgic memories of the American River in California. He notes it as a meaningful song, highlighting his introspective, guitar-based compositions.

‘Green’ and ‘Devices’ represent the conceptual bookends of the forthcoming album, ‘Infinite Health.’ ‘Green’ is an elegy to my childhood where I spent my youth forging a deep connection with nature,” Hansen says. ‘Devices’ represents the struggle to stay connected to nature and our own humanity in the modern world. I wanted to illustrate this tension with a set of sonically contrasting songs.”

The music video for ‘Green,’ directed by Charles Bergquist, aims to capture the essence of Hansen’s connection to the American River. It encapsulates the experience of rafting down the American River on a hot summer day.

‘Infinite Health’ was co-produced with Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear and Tycho guitarist Zac Brown. The first single, ‘Phantom,’ released last month, features an Italo Disco-inspired video by Pixel Flux.
