UK Nightlife could re-open with new guidelines & restrictions

Information suggests temperature checks and separated queues could be in place.

It’s been nearly 3 months since UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson officially ordered a list of venues and activities, including clubs, pubs, bars, restaurants, theatres, and concert halls, to temporarily close their doors due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick, originally intended restrictions to be in place for 14 days before review, but venues have been remained closed ever since. Now, a supposed Government leak suggests UK clubs might operate under new guidance. The same measures would take place in hotels, pubs, and restaurants.

The official advice included socially-distanced queues, temperature checks, and hand sanitizing stations. It is believed that next week, announcements will be made; the two-meter rule currently in place will take a more relaxed approach, and that restaurants will also re-open, under new guidelines that adhere to new health and safety regulations.

Craig Hassall, Chief Executive at the Royal Albert Hall, spoke to a UK media outlet about a number of safety measures that could be set in place. Said measures include disinfectant mists that have recently been used in South Korea. According to him, “the test case in Seoul – where a Phantom of the Opera production has continued running – has seen audience members walking through a light mist of disinfectant, having their temperature taken, and filling in a questionnaire about their symptoms and recent places they’ve visited. If we’re to find a solution, it is going to be a combination of numerous measures, from increased access points to hand sanitizers, Perspex screens, and PPE for staff”.
