The feature has been online since International Women’s Day.

‘Underplayed’, the documentary that covers the underrepresentation of women in electronic music and which features a 20 track original soundtrack by Kate Simko, is now available to watch online.

The movie, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival back in 2020, was directed by Stacy Lee, and features interviews and commentary by TOKiMONSTA, Louisahhh, Suzanne Ciani, SHERELLE, Nightwave, and TYGAPAW.

Exploring gender, ethnicity, and sexuality equality issues in dance music, the documentary touches on a number of subjects such as online abuse and discrimination, the work of the Women’s Audio Mission, and the intimate side of touring.

‘Underplayed’ is now available to watch for free or rented via Amazon Prime. Check out the trailer for it below.
