Seeking to raise money for London’s artists, freelancers, and creative industry workers.
With London’s nightlife under threat since the initial lockdown back in March due to the Coronavirus, creatives and workers in the music industry sector have taken an unprecedented economical hit. As a response, United We Stream’s campaign has grown into a cultural platform raising more than £1.5 million from 25,000 donations, 400 hours of streaming from 2,056 artists in 422 iconic venues, all with the help of 200 volunteers in over 90 cities around the world.
Now, United We Stream has decided to join forces with Rinse FM to produce DJ sets by drum and bass label Hospital Records, deep house and melodic techno label Anjunadeep, residents of underground techno nightclub FOLD, and secret special guest. The sets will be recorded at iconic London venues (The Cause, Village Underground, FOLD) and will be streaming them over four Saturdays, starting on October 24th.
They will be available to watch for free on the United We Stream London socials, Mixcloud LIVE, YouTube, and Facebook, and will be broadcast Live on London’s airwaves via Rinse FM.
A Crowdfund page has been set up to donate to our fund that will be paid out to artists, freelancers, and nightlife industry workers, who devote their lives to creating the culture that we love. 75% of the donations will be paid out to artists, freelancers, and creative industry workers who apply for a grant and the remaining 25% will be paid out to In Place Of War (10% to cover administrative costs of managing the entire application and distribution process and 15% to be donated to IPOW). Applications will be accepted from Monday 16th November,
The next transmission will come courtesy of Anjunadeep, who is hosting a virtual event at Village Underground on October 31th with a lineup that includes Amy Wiles, Penelope, Daniel Curpen, Just Her, Kidnap, Jody Wisternoff.
