US Congress agreed on Covid-19 Relief Bill

Meaning billions in aid for small music venues.

On Sunday night, Congress announced a deal on a Covid-19 Relief Bill that will be providing $900 billion in aid. Stemming from this, it’s calculated that $15 billion will go to venues and other cultural institutions.

Included in the bill is the Save Our Stages Act, which is meant to provide six months of revenue to independent venue owners. This would allow them to cover rent, maintenance, utilities, paychecks, protective equipment, administrative costs, expenses and taxes.

‘I’m especially pleased this bill will provide money for bars and restaurants, and $15 billion in SPA grants for theater operators and small venue operators through the Save Our Stages Act. These venues are so important to my state and so many other states across the country. They are the lifeblood of our communities. They were the first to close and will be the last to open. This bill gives them a fighting chance’, stated Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on the Senate floor.

More details on the rollout of the Covid-19 Relief Bill and the Save Our Stages act should be available soon.
