Shiba San is a real driving force in the modern house scene and now he proves that once more by carefully A&Ring four new cuts for a various artists release on the Basement Leak label.
Those selected include LA based Dateless (who was on the first installment of this VA series), followed by newcomers Black V Neck & Ayarez, and Brazilian Malive.
First up is ‘Drop It’, a drilling cut with frazzled synths fucking about with your brain as loopy drums swing down low. It’s inventive and off centre and one to get you going for sure. Then ‘Freaky Dance’ is a sleazy, ghetto styled cut with big booty shaking drums and curious sounds and samples all coming over like a Dirtybird record. ‘My Style’ then goes deeper and more smooth with warm synths and filtered vocals getting you to shake that rump. Last but not least is the great ‘Open Cap’, a hard hitting house cut chiselled from rock. It has vocal cut ups and wiry synths all screwing around and making things really pop. This is the final piece of the puzzle and rounds out another fine EP.
