Bringing digital and light artists to center stage.
Following Dixon & Transmoderna’s all-day Printworks take-over back in October 2022, they have now linked up with Boiler Room to present an hour-long edit that centers around the symbiosis of sound and visuals.
“Condensing 11 hours of footage into 60 minutes was no easy feat,” explains Dixon. “What is special about this particular collaboration is that we worked closely with the Boiler Room team whilst keeping hold of our creative freedom throughout the editing process. The entire spectrum of creative choices that went into setting up the Printworks event are also there in the edit.”
This presentation by Transmoderna is a departure from Boiler Room’s “fisheye” perspective, decentralizing the DJ, and bringing the visuals of the involved digital and light artists to center stage.
“For us, it’s important to put the spotlight on both the sound and visual artists involved in the club experience. In doing so, we honour the complexities of the experience, its many visual layers, and their ongoing dialogue with sound,” says Transmoderna co-founder and creative director Ana Ofak.
