Weval have announced their fourth studio album, ‘Chorophobia’, slated for release on September 5th, 2025 via Technicolour, a Ninja Tune imprint. Alongside the reveal, the Dutch duo shared a new single, ‘Just Friends’, a vibrant cut that marks a clear shift toward the dancefloor.

Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers, the minds behind Weval, have long resisted being categorized as a dance act despite years of success within the electronic scene. With ‘Chorophobia’ — a title referencing the fear of dancing — the pair confront that hesitation head-on, delivering their most extroverted work to date. They describe the album as a liberating move beyond genre conventions, embracing higher BPMs, club-ready structures, and a freer, more hedonistic sound.

After their 2024 ‘Night Versions’ EP, Weval embraced a more energetic sound. ‘Just Friends’ shows their psychedelic pop side with Tame Impala influences, while tracks like ‘Better’ incorporate Motown elements and ‘Head First’ features vocals from Kilimanjaro’s brother.

Weval will support Rüfüs du Sol on a run of UK and EU shows this summer, with a headline tour to follow in autumn.
