Bilbao BBK Live has once again solidified its reputation as a premier festival in Europe. Nestled on Mount Kobetamendi in Bilbao, the event offered a very special experience, blending world-class music with lovely natural surroundings.
The 2024 edition attracted 110,000 attendees from over 50 countries, creating a vibrant and diverse atmosphere. Over three days, festival-goers enjoyed an eclectic mix of music across 12 stages, celebrating both established and emerging talent.
On the first day, July 11th, Massive Attack delivered a mythic performance, reminding everyone why they are pioneers of trip-hop with a powerful and haunting set. Followed by Air who celebrated the 25th anniversary of their album ‘Moon Safari’, captivating the crowd with their sophisticated downtempo sounds. To close the date, The Prodigy electrified attendees with their intense beats and visuals, keeping the energy high throughout their set.
Other highlights were Los Planetas show marking 30 years of their album ‘Super 8,’ Folamour who brought a special audiovisual experience with his uplifting house, and NewDad showcasing their dreamy indie rock.
The second day, July 12th, was headlined by Grace Jones commanding the main stage with her iconic presence, leaving a mark with her unforgettable hits and striking energy. Khruangbin charmed the audience with their genre-blending sound, fusing psychedelic rock and funk, and Underworld providing electronic music euphoria with their nostalgic and potent beats.
Also, Parcels delighted the crowd with their disco-infused indie pop, creating a feel-good atmosphere. Meute showcased their blend of electronic music and live brass band performance, and Ezra Collective played a vibrant jazz fusion session. Marcel Dettmann closed the night with an excellent techno set and an energetic dancefloor experience.
On the last date, July 13, Jungle enchanted the audience with their blend of funk, soul, and electronic sounds. Slowdive brought their ethereal sound, dreamy melodies, and vocals, and Noname delivered a powerful performance with provoking lyrics and smooth flow.
Nicola Cruz mixed a fusion of electronic beats and traditional Latin American sounds. John Talabot followed with a dynamic DJ set, weaving together deep house and techno genres, and Floating Points closed the event with intricate electronic compositions, lush melodies, and trippy visuals.
The event provided different sustainable actions reducing the festival’s carbon footprint highlighting its commitment to environmental and social causes. Also featured plastic-free, eco-friendly stage designs, emphasizing on sustainability and zero waste.
