Kavinsky’s hit ‘Nightcall’ has shattered records on Shazam, becoming the most “Shazamed” song in a single day. This unprecedented achievement followed its feature in the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on August 11th.

The French artist’s 2010 single, which first gained prominence after its inclusion in the cult film ‘Drive,’ saw an astounding 6,921,000 Shazam searches following its Olympic performance. This surge in popularity catapulted ‘Nightcall’ to the top of Shazam’s Top 200 Global chart, dethroning the previous record-holder, Tones And I’s 2019 viral sensation ‘Dance Monkey.’

According to a report by NME, Phoenix’s ‘Lisztomania’ currently sits at number two on Shazam’s global chart, with Billie Eilish’s ‘Birds Of A Feather’ holding the third spot. Phoenix’s other tracks—‘If I Ever Feel Better,’ ‘1901,’ and ‘Tonight’ (featuring Ezra Koenig)—also feature in the Top 10. Additionally, Air’s ‘Playground Love’ (featuring Gordon Tracks) has entered the Shazam Top 10 this week, landing at number eight.

The Paris Olympics’ closing ceremony at Stade de France showcased a blend of French and international artists, including Phoenix, Air, Kavinsky, Angèle, Justice, Ezra Koenig, VannDa, H.E.R., Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre.
