Midnight Pool Party has unveiled their latest single ‘BOYS LIKE YOU’, their third release of 2024. The track blends disco-infused dance music and R&B with distinctive K-pop influences.
At its core, ‘BOYS LIKE YOU’ explores the universal experience of early romance, capturing the delicate balance between confidence and vulnerability that characterizes the first stages of attraction.
“This is our third single for 2024, and we wanted to try something different from our last two releases,” shares Darren Morilla of Midnight Pool Party. “We aimed for a song that could make people dance but also wanted to explore new musical influences, blending a Pop/R&B vibe with K-pop elements while maintaining our unique MPP sound.”
During the writing process, Darren initially hesitated to complete ‘BOYS LIKE YOU’ because of its overtly personal narrative. “The song is about a boy crushing on another boy, and I worried it might limit our audience. But the fact that I even stopped to think about it felt ridiculous,” Darren reflects. “Love and attraction are universal feelings, and anyone can relate to the emotions in the song.”
