Michael Dodman, better known as Huxley, is a DJ and producer from Tring in Hertfordshire. For more than ten years he has balanced main room house, techno, UK bass, and deeper moods with an ear for new directions while keeping a clear personal stamp. His 2012 single “Let It Go” on Hypercolour opened the door to releases on Aus Music, Toolroom, Knee Deep In Sound, Moon Harbour, and Repopulate Mars, plus a full-length album for Aus that underlined his range.
Collaboration sits at the heart of his work. Sessions with Sam Russo, Ethyl, and J Phlip have sharpened his ideas and in 2015 he co-founded the label No Idea’s Original. In 2022 he launched Dumb Safari, named after an early breakthrough track, to house music that does not quite fit anywhere else. Early releases such as “AFN”, “The Rooftop”, and the Wouter S team-up “Since” show its free spirit across house, garage, and techno.
Behind the decks Huxley moves with the same freedom. Festival stages or late night basements, he drives crowds with rolling bass and crisp drums. Tours have stretched from Africa to Australia and his Rinse FM show keeps fresh cuts flowing to fans each month.
With Dumb Safari providing a playground for like-minded artists, Huxley remains a key force in UK house, matching big hooks with honest club energy and a down-to-earth attitude that wins dancers and DJs alike.
