Beatport has announced the launch of the Madonna Global Remix Challenge, inviting producers from around the world to reimagine the Grammy-winning anthem ‘Ray of Light’. The competition, which opened on August 28th, 2025, offers access to official remix stems and a grand prize that includes studio gear, software bundles, and a signed vinyl from Madonna herself.

Originally released in 1998, ‘Ray of Light’ marked a defining moment in the artist’s career. Co-produced with William Orbit, the track blended trance and techno with pop sensibilities, helping to usher electronic music into the mainstream. Its impact remains foundational for generations of producers, with Madonna adopting her electronic alias Veronica Electronica during the era.

“My appreciation for the art of remixing has been passionate since I started making music. The ability to propel boundaries and do the unexpected is something I can relate to as an artist. I look forward to hearing everyone’s interpretation – don’t hold back,” said Madonna.

In addition to the main prize, second and third-place winners will also receive extensive production tools and subscriptions. The challenge runs in parallel with the release of Veronica Electronica, a companion remix album to ‘Ray of Light’ featuring edits by Orbit, Sasha, BT, Peter Rauhofer, and Victor Calderone.

Hosted in collaboration with Rhino Entertainment, Warner Records, and LabelRadar, the competition closes on September 25th, 2025. Submissions will be judged in mid-October.
