Paul Kalkbrenner has released a new single titled ‘Dreaming On’, the third track to emerge from his forthcoming album ‘The Essence’, due out later this year via B1 / Sony Music. The track pays homage to Depeche Mode’s 2001 classic ‘Dream On’, reinterpreting the original with the artist’s distinct sonic signature.
Built around a stoic groove and floating hook, ‘Dreaming On’ combines the melancholic depth of the source material with the warmth and minimalism of Kalkbrenner’s current sound. Rather than recreating the original, he offers a respectful continuation — a stylistically confident reinterpretation that blends Y2K nostalgia with techno sensibilities.
“It’s about the essential. This is an album I can truly stand behind. I consider it my best,” Kalkbrenner says of ‘The Essence’. “Sure, there may be more well-known hits on my other albums, but there were always two or three filler tracks. This one doesn’t have a single filler. Not even a filler moment!”
