Drumsheds has unveiled a new collaboration with visual artist George Harvey and MiM founder Emma Marshall, centering on the emotional and physiological impact of the dancefloor. The partnership is marked by a short film that captures how music, movement, and collective experience affect the body and psyche.
Rooted in traditions of ritual and ceremony, the project positions club culture as modern medicine. Harvey’s direction places movement at the core, with six dancers blending street, club, and contemporary styles to reflect the subtle yet profound exchanges that unfold on a dancefloor. The piece is soundtracked by ‘Vrieselaan’ from Kessler’s ‘Ambivalent’ EP on Shall Not Fade.
“Electronic music has shaped my life – it’s supported me when I’ve needed it most, lifted the best moments even higher, and introduced me to new people, friends and collaborators,” said Harvey.“I wanted to express that release, that energy, and the feeling of turning inward in solitary meditation while being profoundly connected to those around you.”
Emma Marshall, a PhD researcher and founder of MiM, brings a neuroscience-led approach to the collaboration. MiM is an interdisciplinary platform that explores how rhythm shapes human behaviour and wellbeing. Her work reframes raving as a deep cultural and biological act, using rhythm and movement to regulate the nervous system and foster connection.
“I’m proud and excited to collaborate with Drumsheds,” said Marshall. “This partnership reframes electronic music and rave culture by recognising the dancefloor as a space for connection, transformation and shared experience.”
The project also coincides with Drumsheds’ new Autumn/Winter 2025–26 season. Running from September through March, the expanded program includes standout showcases from XXL London, FAC51 The Haçienda, Eastenderz, and ANTS. Notable bookings include Haçienda Classical, Inner City, Todd Terry, Green Velvet, TSHA, Andrea Oliva, and many more.
