Jon Hopkins has teamed up with Icelandic composer Biggi Hilmars to score ‘Wilding’, a documentary directed by David Allen and written by Isabella Tree. The full soundtrack is now available via  Domino Soundtracks, with physical editions scheduled to release on April 3rd, 2026.

The film, released in 2024, follows an ambitious rewilding project at the 400-year-old Knepp Estate in West Sussex, England, led by Tree and her husband Charlie Burrell. Hopkins was already familiar with the estate, having visited it years earlier: “My brother Sam told me about the concept of rewilding… He took me to Knepp Estate in Sussex to show me how quickly land can regenerate once human hands stop interfering.”

Director David Allen, a fan of Hopkins’ ‘Diamond Mine’, approached him for the film. Hopkins added: “We started by developing my collaboration with King Creosote, ‘Immunity’, into a new iteration that sat over one particularly beautiful scene… With that palette in place, I began composing new material.”

The result includes the track ‘Wilding Theme’, which features Hopkins’ voice processed to resemble a strange, ancient woodwind instrument. Hilmars, an environmentalist himself, described the collaboration as an honour and said he was immediately drawn to ‘Wilding’.
