British-born, Swedish-based producer and musician Crackazat returns to Freerange Records with his new single ‘Pick Me Up’. The track offers a first glimpse into his upcoming LP ‘Sun’.

Marking a shift in direction, ‘Pick Me Up’ blends acid funk, soul, disco, and jazz into a tightly arranged production led by Crackazat’s own bass, keys, and vocals. The single reflects a renewed approach from the producer, known for his formal training in jazz composition and performance.

Speaking about the track’s origins, Crackazat explains: “In many ways it’s a tribute to ‘Love Fool’ by The Cardigans. I was about 9 at the time and it goes without saying that I’ve got very used to this kind of funky live music being accessible to everyone. I miss that in much of today’s more disposable dance music and I want to bring it back.”

The track explores the familiar cycle of turning to a vice for relief, even when aware of the consequences. “I think we all do it sometimes to varying degrees,” he adds, “you know, when it just gets too much…”

The production features live drums by LA-based drummer Tamuz Dolev, alongside horn contributions from Swedish musicians Andreas Gidland and Karl Olandersson.
